Founded in 1975, primarily as a trading company, Rochester Cheese expanded its operation in 1992 with the purchase of the Spring Valley location. Technical expertise was greatly expanded by the creation of International Ingredient Systems located in Springfield, Missouri in 1994. The company took another step forward in 1996 when it partnered with Land O’Lakes and formed Isanti Foods. Rochester Cheese subsequently purchased all of Isanti Foods and consolidated operations on December 1, 2001. Rochester Cheese is now a wholly owned subsidiary of Swiss Valley Farms, a farmer owned cooperative headquartered in Davenport, Iowa.
